Lower Kennebec Regional Land Trust Receives Bath Savings Trust Grant

Programs Planned at Maine Maritime Museum

The Lower Kennebec Regional Land Trust recently received a $1000 grant from the Bath Savings Trust Company in support of outreach programs to promote environmental conservation in the region.

LKRLT will use the money to collaborate with the Maine Maritime Museum in presenting programs on the environmental and cultural history of the Kennebec River. The first event will be in early 2008 on the history of ice harvesting along the river. Please check back for exact date in February.

A boat trip will be offered in late June to cruise up river aboard one of MMM's historic vessels and learn about the conservation efforts along the river, as well as some of the unique and fabulous natural resources of the Kennebec Estuary. The trip will pass LKRLT's Thorne Head Presrve, the Merrymeeting Fields Preserve, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife protected Lines Island and reach Swan's Island before turning around.
