Gloucestershire loses radio studio as Heart breakfast shows go national

One of Gloucester’s radio stations leaves town as Heart made a group-wide announcement this morning.

The radio studio is based at Eastgate Street in the city center.

Today, UK media company Global announced it will close 10 studio locations – and the Gloucestershire studio, located on Eastgate Street in Gloucester, is one of 10.

Global Founder and Executive Chairman Ashely Tabor made the announcement to staff via video link this morning.

The news comes as Global – the owner of Europe’s largest commercial radio company – has revealed that it will air national breakfast shows on the Capital, Heart and Smooth networks by the end of this year.

This means Heart will benefit from a single breakfast in England, Scotland and Wales on all stations owned by Global and Communicorp over the next few months.

This is an ongoing story and we’ll continue to update it in the live blog below.
