Is “Breakfast Club” ending? Angela Yee explains the future of the radio show
“The Breakfast Club” on iHeartRadio is undergoing a big change.
Co-host Angela Yee tweeted Tuesday night that the radio show “as you know it’s officially finished.”
On Wednesday’s show, Yee clarified that she was leaving the show, but co-hosts Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy will continue without her. Yee will focus on her own radio network show instead, she said, calling it a “tremendous opportunity.”
“As far as having a nationally broadcast show as someone in my position – a woman, a black woman here … it’s a rarity and it’s a great opportunity and it’s not is not something I take lightly.”
Both Charlamagne and DJ Envy expressed their congratulations to Yee.

What is “The Breakfast Club”?
The radio show was launched in 2010 with Yee, Charlamagne and DJ Envy. The New York-based trio reports Monday through Saturday on the latest in hip hop and surrounding culture, starting at 6 a.m. ET.
During the show, Yee has his “Rumor Report” segment where they discuss the latest scandals happening among celebrities. Charlamagne and DJ Envy team up on “The Donkey of the Day”, a title they give to a person or group that has had a major accident.
Who is the cast of “The Breakfast Club?”
Radio personalities Yee, Charlamagne and DJ Envy host the popular show. It is unknown if a host will replace Yee in the future.
Yee is not new to hosting her own show. The Brooklyn, New York native previously hosted “The Morning After with Angela Yee” on Eminem’s radio station Shade 45 with her “Lip Service” podcast.
DJ Envy, born RaaShaun Casey, is a producer from Queens, New York. The artist has been turning records on the radio since the early 2000s, having hosted “The People’s Mix”, “The People’s Choice Hit List” and more.
Wendy Williams fans were first introduced to Charlamagne, born Larry Thomas McKelvey, in 2006 when he was her second mic on her brief VH1 show “The Wendy Williams Experience.” He ventured out, appearing as a cast member on MTV’s “Guy Code” and hosting the MTV2 show “Charlamagne & Friends.” In addition to “The Breakfast Club,” the radio personality currently hosts “Hell of a Week with Charlamagne tha God” on Comedy Central.
In August 2020, the group was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame. On the website, “The Breakfast Club” has been dubbed “America’s most listened-to Hip-Hop and R&B morning show”.
“Love us or hate us, don’t act like this show hasn’t impacted society in some way,” Charlamagne said after the induction ceremony. “We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all of you.”

When will Angela Yee’s new show start? What happens to “Lip Service?”
On Wednesday’s show, Yee shared that she will be staying on “The Breakfast Club” until her new show begins.
iHeart confirmed that the show, titled “Way Up with Angela Yee,” will launch this fall in a press release. Instead of airing in the morning, the weekday program will air at noon on iHeartMedia stations, including New York’s Power 105.1.
Yee’s new show will cover “hot and timely topics she’s earned trust in over her decades on the air — from hip-hop and R&B relationships, current affairs and culture. general, both in and out of the music industry”. There will also be celebrity interviews.
“Way Up with Angela Yee” also doesn’t replace her “Lip Service” podcast, she revealed on “The Breakfast Club.” Yee will continue to host the podcast with co-hosts Stephanie Santiago and Gigi Maguire.

“The Breakfast Club” has hosted iconic interviews over the years with artists like Ye (formerly Kanye West), Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, JAY-Z, Diddy, Cardi B, and more.
