A Northampton radio station was shortlisted for annual national community radio awards.

“The show is so much fun to do. It’s not just about the music and the fun features. I like interviewing people and being able to tell their stories on the air. I like to talk about what’s going on in Northampton; that’s what our listeners love to hear and what good local radio is.

“I would like to thank the great family of presenters at NLive and the support of our station manager, Martin, for his continued support.”

The Annual Community Radio Awards were created in 2016 to celebrate community radio and all the hard work and time that volunteers devote to their local stations, radio shows and communities.

The non-profit awards are judged by judges with 60 judges chosen from the community radio sector, academics and other professionals in the radio industry. They are run by a team of volunteers with experience in radio in all its forms and in all sectors, from student radio to community radio, including the BBC and commercial radio.

Station manager Martin Steers – who also chairs the awards – said: “We are delighted to have been recognized among a large number of other stations doing a great job across the UK.

“As a local Northampton radio station, we are passionate about the city and everyone who makes it up, and John’s show is a great mix of fantastic entertainment, local content, interviews and great music. . ”

This year’s Community Radio Awards winners will be unveiled at a ceremony at the Coventry Transport Museum on Saturday 23 October.

Awards Director Maxine Jones said: “As face-to-face events pick up, it’s great to come together and celebrate the hard work of the past 18 months. Many stations have further strengthened their vital community role during this time and it is worth thinking about.

“It’s clear from this that the passionate presenters, volunteers and staff are truly there for their audience.

“We wish NLive Radio good luck and look forward to hosting the ceremony in Coventry next month.”

NLive broadcasts on 106.9fm across Northampton, online on and the RadioPlayer app, as well as on smart speakers via “Launch N Live Radio”.
